Another theory proposes that the name simply evolved as a playful rendition of “to hell you ride,” emphasizing the exhilarating ski slopes that draw numerous winter vacationers annually. With over 2,000 skiable acres, both beginners and experts will find ideal terrain for their skiing adventures. The phrase “to hell you ride” also reflects the lively atmosphere found in the region. Locals and visitors frequently gather at Town Park or the bars in Telluride for a spirited and enjoyable time. Telluride has two prime seasons for visiting: mid-June to August and mid-November to early April. These times offer lively festivals and excellent skiing opportunities, but they can be crowded and more expensive. To save money, it’s best to book your flights and hotel at least two months ahead if you plan to visit during these popular seasons. However, if you prefer a quieter experience and want to save even more, consider visiting between April and early June or between September and early November. These spring and fall shoulder seasons offer additional savings, but keep in mind that some shops and restaurants may be closed for maintenance, and the free gondola might not be operating.
