Former working-class settlements like Jackson and Grand Teton have blossomed with remarkable art and performance venues, while massive ski resorts have turned the region into an emerging winter paradise.
The Jackson Hole region may not offer the same glitz and glam as Aspen or Lake Tahoe, but it has its own unique charm that has attracted Hollywood celebrities like Harrison Ford and politicians such as former Vice President Dick Cheney. Despite recent enhancements that have added a touch of luxury, Jackson Hole still retains its essence as a mountainous area, defined by its rugged trails and vast expanses of open space, reminiscent of a bygone era in the American West.
One of the best times to visit Jackson Hole are the months of April, May, September, and October. These months fall in the shoulder seasons when the weather can be unpredictable, with temperatures ranging from the low 30s to the low 60s. However, this is also the time when you can find the lowest prices and fewer tourists in the region. If you’re a skier, then winter is the season for you, but keep in mind that hotel rates tend to be higher due to the arrival of powder hounds. In contrast, summer is the peak season with an influx of visitors to both Yellowstone and Grand Teton, leading to increased rates.
