Washington Park Arboretum

The Washington Park Arboretum spans 230 acres along Lake Washington and is home to a wide variety of plants. Many of these plants cannot be found anywhere else in the region. The arboretum features themed gardens that showcase different types of plants. For example, the Pacific Connections Garden highlights plants from Australia, China, Chile, New Zealand, and the U.S. Pacific Northwest, all countries connected to the Pacific Ocean. Another section of the arboretum is the Rhododendron Glen, which has been around since the 1930s. Visitors can also enjoy a traditional Japanese garden and a winter garden that is best viewed from late November to March. The arboretum is managed through a partnership between the City of Seattle and the University of Washington Botanic Gardens.

Explore the arboretum’s offerings through a variety of activities. Join a guided tour on a tram for an hour-long adventure, or opt for a more tranquil experience by renting kayaks or canoes from nearby facilities. If you prefer a personalized journey, private walking tours are also at your disposal.
