Sol Duc Valley

Enjoy it while visiting Olympic National Park in Washington

Sol Duc Valley

The Sol Duc Valley in the northwest region of the park is a great place to explore. It has numerous trails for you to enjoy, with one of the most popular being the hike to the Sol Duc Falls overlook. People who have recently visited the falls have been amazed by their beauty. The hike itself is quite easy, taking you through a lovely forest. Many visitors highly recommend this hike.

There are a couple of alternatives for you to explore in this area. One option is a pleasant 5.2-mile hike to Mink Lake. Another option is the Lover’s Lane trek, which covers approximately 6 miles. The Sol Duc River plays a crucial role as a pathway for coho salmon. These salmon swim through the valley and make their way to the lakes and headwaters in the nearby mountains. In the later part of October and early November, many people visit the Salmon Cascades overlook, located around 5 miles along Sol Duc Road. From there, they can observe the impressive sight of salmon leaping over the falls as they journey upstream to spawn in the Sol Duc River.
