Park City

Park City is a popular destination known for its skiing, snowboarding, and the Sundance Film Festival. It is located about 35 miles southeast of Salt Lake City, making it easily accessible. During the winter season, Park City attracts numerous vacationers who come to enjoy these activities. The town is nestled between two renowned resorts, Deer Valley and Park City Mountain, and it is surrounded by the majestic Wasatch Mountain Range. Back in 2002, both resorts played host to events during the Winter Olympics. Today, the Utah Olympic Park, situated just north of the main street, remains an important training facility for winter athletes, including the United States Ski Team.

You don’t need to be an Olympian to enjoy everything Park City has to offer. Take a leisurely walk in the delightful Historic Park City area or pay a visit to the High West Distillery and Saloon. If you’re looking for family-friendly activities, put on your warmest winter clothes and spend an afternoon snow tubing at Gorgoza Park. And after a day of skiing or relaxing in the lodge, immerse yourself in the lively après-ski scene of the city.

When to Visit

If you’re a fan of winter sports, the best time to visit Park City is from December to March. The ski season usually starts in mid-November and ends in mid-April, but it depends on the weather and snowfall. During these months, the temperature averages in the low 30s during the day and drops to single digits at night. Park City receives an average of 300 to 400 inches of snow each year. January is the busiest month because not only skiers visit, but also thousands of film fans come for the annual Sundance Film Festival. Although skiing is the main attraction, local residents of Utah often take a break in the cooler summer months and visit Park City. The temperatures there are typically 20 degrees lower than in other parts of the state.
