Enjoy it while visiting Arches National Park in Utah
The Fiery Furnace is a thrilling destination for adventure seekers. It consists of narrow passageways surrounded by towering sandstone walls. Exploring this place can be challenging because it’s easy to get lost in the maze-like structure. Due to limited GPS effectiveness within the walls, visitors have two options: join a ranger-guided hike or obtain a permit for independent exploration after watching an orientation video. Keep in mind that this hike is not your average stroll. It requires physical effort, as you’ll encounter uneven and broken sandstone, narrow ledges near drop-offs, gaps to jump across, and tight spaces to squeeze into and climb through. At times, you may need to support yourself against the sandstone walls using your hands and feet.
To explore this area of the park, hikers have two options: they can either join a ranger-led hike or obtain an individual permit to hike alone. Those who have experienced the hike describe it as truly amazing, but they caution that it can be quite demanding. If you feel claustrophobic or have a fear of heights, it might be best to consider skipping this particular hike.
