Holocaust Museum Houston

The Holocaust Museum Houston, which is the fourth-largest Holocaust museum in the U.S., underwent renovation in 2019 and now occupies three stories and spans 57,000 square feet. It features four permanent galleries and two changing exhibition galleries. Visitors can explore a wide range of artifacts and displays, including film footage from World War II, diaries written by young people during that era, and an authentic 1942 railcar that transported victims at the time. The museum’s collection comprises belongings of Holocaust victims, survivors, and their families, many of whom were from the Houston area. Additionally, the museum highlights resistance efforts with the inclusion of a Danish fishing boat that saved over 7,000 Danish Jews. All exhibits are available in English and Spanish for visitors to enjoy.

The museum has received positive feedback from recent visitors who described it as well-designed. They found the exhibits to be thought-provoking and informative. Many visitors were deeply affected by the WWII railcar display, and they also appreciated the chance to engage in a virtual conversation with a survivor.
