The USS Lexington, which was commissioned in 1943, played a crucial role as a combat aircraft carrier during World War II. It served with the 5th Fleet at Pearl Harbor. Today, this retired ship has found its resting place in Corpus Christi Bay and has been transformed into a museum. Visitors now have the opportunity to explore and discover the rich history of the USS Lexington, along with fascinating insights into naval aviation and battles.
There are various self-guided tour routes available for exploring the ship. These routes cover different sections of the ship such as the flight deck, hangar deck, crew quarters, and the forecastle (where anchoring occurred). In addition to the self-guided tours, there are guided tours with different themes. Visitors have the option to go on paranormal tours, which take them to areas of the ship not accessible during the self-guided tours. There’s also a tour that provides insights into the launch experience of a pilot on an aircraft carrier. Apart from these tours, the USS Lexington offers additional attractions including an escape room, virtual battle stations, and a flight simulator.
