Padre Island National Seashore

Trip ideas while visiting Corpus Christi in Texas

Padre Island National Seashore

Padre Island is a beautiful barrier island located along the Texas coast. It spans 113 miles and is divided into two separate islands. The southern section, known as South Padre Island, is famous for being a popular spring break destination. On the other hand, Padre Island, near Corpus Christi, provides a more tranquil and relaxed seaside experience. Travelers absolutely love the national seashore on the island, which covers a stretch of 70 miles and is protected by the National Park Service. It is highly regarded for its unspoiled beaches, peaceful ambiance, and ample space to enjoy and unwind.

Visit the national seashore to enjoy various activities! You can have fun building sandcastles on the beach or try windsurfing on Laguna Madre, which is a small body of water saltier than the ocean. For an adventurous experience, hop on a four-wheeler and cruise along the sandy shores. If you plan your trip during summer, you might even witness the release of sea turtle hatchlings. Keep in mind that these releases do not follow a strict schedule since the baby turtles hatch whenever they’re ready. Additionally, if you want to save money on accommodation, consider camping on the beach. However, please note that camping spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
