Mustang Island State Park, situated about 30 miles south of downtown Corpus Christi, is a delightful destination that definitely merits the drive. Spanning an impressive 18 miles, this barrier island boasts stunning sand dunes and is home to a diverse range of wildlife. Visitors can spot over 400 bird species, as well as encounter raccoons, fish, deer, and even sea turtles.

The park provides ample sandy areas for relaxing under the sun and building sandcastles. You can enjoy a refreshing swim in the pleasant waters of the Gulf of Mexico or embark on a kayaking adventure along the Mustang Island Paddling trail. This trail offers over 20 miles of waterways to explore. If you don’t have your own kayak, there are rental options both south of the park and in Port Aransas. To make the most of your visit, consider staying overnight at one of the available campsites within the park.
