Greenville

Greenville, South Carolina, is the oldest among over 30 cities and towns named Greenville in the United States. It’s a lively destination known for its rapid growth in the southern region. Whether you’re a family, food lover, cyclist, or culture enthusiast, Greenville offers a variety of attractions and activities. Most of them are conveniently located in the compact downtown area.

To kick off your exploration, visit NOMA Square, an outdoor plaza situated at the intersection of North Main Street and Beattie Place. Keep an eye out for nine hidden bronze mouse sculptures scattered around the neighborhood. The Greenville County Museum of Art and the Children’s Museum of the Upstate are both situated within three blocks of the shops and restaurants on the Main Street corridor. These museums showcase captivating exhibits that can be enjoyed by both kids and adults. If you prefer outdoor adventures, you can access the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail from multiple points downtown. This nearly 20-mile-long trail is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. Alternatively, you can unwind at Falls Park on the Reedy, a serene oasis located in the heart of Greenville.

When to Visit

Greenville offers the best experiences during two specific time periods: September to November and March to May. These months boast mild temperatures without the heavy summer humidity, making it comfortable for visitors. Additionally, crowd sizes at local attractions are smaller during this time. Fall, with its vibrant foliage in the Blue Ridge Mountains, is especially picturesque and a great time for hikers and bikers. In spring, the trees are lush green, and colorful blooms adorn the landscape. While September might have some rainfall, October and November are generally dry. Among the spring months, April stands out as the driest. Another advantage of visiting during fall or spring is that these seasons are considered shoulder seasons, resulting in lower accommodation rates.
