The Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia has been a popular attraction since its opening in 2017. It stands out as the only museum of its kind, offering interactive exhibits that bring the story of this significant historical event to life. One particular highlight is George Washington’s sleeping and office tent from the Revolutionary War, which leaves a lasting impression on museumgoers.
Revolution Place has several interactive exhibits that cater to young children. One of them is the “Military Encampment,” which features a tent similar to those used by soldiers. Kids can also explore the “8th Century Church” exhibit and learn about its historical significance. Another interesting exhibit is the “Three Tun Tavern,” showcasing various items like bottles and bowls that were commonly found in a tavern during the 1700s. Lastly, there’s the “18th Century Parlor,” where visitors can experience a recreated privy, which was essentially an outhouse back then. It’s important to note that this section of the museum is exclusively open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
