A place like no other near Philadelphia in Pennsylvania
The Liberty Bell in Philadelphia is a must-see attraction, regardless of your interests or reasons for visiting. This historic artifact, weighing 2,080 pounds, was originally housed in the belfry of Independence Hall. It played a significant role in marking important events throughout history, including the momentous occasion of the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence.
Historians are unsure of the exact reason or timeframe when the Liberty Bell got damaged. However, they speculate that the initial crack appeared in the early 1840s. In preparation for George Washington’s birthday celebration in 1846, metal workers were assigned the responsibility of fixing the bell. Unfortunately, their efforts to repair it were unsuccessful, and as a result, the bell stopped chiming once more.
