A place like no other near Portland in Oregon
One place to find peace and tranquility away from the bustling city is the Japanese Garden located within Washington Park. This 12-acre garden consists of eight distinct gardens, each showcasing various traditional Japanese gardening styles. The gardens incorporate fundamental elements such as stones, water, and carefully chosen plants, reflecting the influences of Shinto, Buddhist, and Taoist philosophies. By immersing themselves in this serene environment, visitors can experience a deep connection with nature. Additionally, visitors have the opportunity to witness traditional tea ceremonies at the Kashintei Tea House and participate in classes on Ikebana (flower arrangement), bonsai care, and Japanese music at the Cultural Village. If you plan your visit for late March or early April, you’ll be treated to the breathtaking sight of cherry blossoms in full bloom. Due to the garden’s higher elevation, the trees follow a slightly different blooming schedule compared to the rest of the city, usually appearing a bit later.
