Oregon Museum of Science and Industry

Looking for a fun way to keep the kids busy or pass the time on a rainy day? Look no further than the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, also known as OMSI. This engaging museum has something for everyone, with five halls and five labs packed with hands-on exhibits that explore physics, chemistry, paleontology, and much more. Plus, they have a special science playground just for young children, making learning an interactive and enjoyable experience for all.

If you love movies, you should definitely visit the USS Blueback submarine at the museum. It was actually used in the filming of “The Hunt for Red October” and it’s the most modern U.S. submarine that you can see on display in the country. Once you’re done exploring the exhibits, make sure to catch a show at the Empirical Theater or gaze at the stars in the Kendall Planetarium. And if you’re feeling hungry, you can grab a bite to eat at Theory, a riverfront eatery located right there. They serve delicious and healthy sandwiches, bowls, and salads. If you’re an adult, don’t miss out on OMSI’s evening lectures called “Science Pubs.” You can enjoy a beer while learning about various topics like beaver adaptation or weight stigma in healthcare.
