Mount Tabor Park

Enjoy it while visiting Portland in Oregon

Mount Tabor Park

Mount Tabor, located 5 miles east of downtown Portland, is a dormant volcanic cinder cone. Although it might sound like quite a journey, the breathtaking views make it worthwhile. From the summit, you can enjoy panoramic sights of downtown Portland and Mount Hood. To reach the top and explore the park, there are three trails to choose from. As you hike along these trails, you’ll come across three reservoirs that used to supply the city’s drinking water. If hiking and scenic views aren’t your cup of tea, there’s another exciting event to look forward to at Mount Tabor Park - the Portland Adult Soapbox Derby. Taking place annually on the third Saturday in August, this lively race features participants zooming down the park’s hills in quirky cars, competing for the coveted first place.

Explore the scenic Mount Tabor Park and enjoy leisurely strolls like previous visitors did. The park offers awe-inspiring views that are often praised by its guests. For those seeking a more active adventure, there’s the option to challenge yourself by running up the 293 stairs. Keep in mind that reaching the top requires some uphill walking, but the stunning vistas make it well worth the effort.
