One more place to enjoy near Outer Banks in North Carolina
Just a short drive from the North Carolina Aquarium, you’ll find a serene 10.5-acre public garden. It’s home to over 500 different types of plants, including hydrangeas, camellias, historic herbs, and native coastal species. One of its highlights is the impressive collection of over 85 varieties of camellias. You’ll also discover a special rose that was gifted by Queen Elizabeth II herself in 1976, which can be found in the rose garden. While exploring the gardens, be sure not to miss the ancient live oak tree estimated to have been standing since 1585 when the area was first settled by colonists.
The garden’s grounds and landscaping received high praise from many visitors, while a few felt that the admission price was a little steep. The gardens are open throughout the year, except for February. Operating hours vary depending on the season. Adult tickets cost $10, while those aged 6 to 17 can enter for $7. Children between the ages of 2 and 5 require a $3 ticket, and kids younger than 2 can enter free of charge. If you wish to bring your dog along, there is an admission fee of $3 per dog.
