Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden

When Daniel J. Stowe, a former textile executive, decided to create a magnificent botanical garden, he allocated a generous 380 acres of land comprising meadows, woodlands, and a lakefront area. Over time, this remarkable garden has expanded to cover 30 acres. It now features a multitude of captivating sights such as vibrant annual and perennial displays, charming fountains, pleasant walking paths, an enormous 8,000-square-foot conservatory housing tropical plants and orchids, and even a dedicated children’s garden.

The Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden has received high praise from recent visitors who described it as “beautiful” and “peaceful.” If you’re planning a visit, consider going during the garden’s Butterfly Bungalow event held annually from Memorial Day to Labor Day. This event offers a wonderful opportunity to discover and learn about the various butterfly species that are native to North Carolina.
