Starting in Virginia, the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway stretches for 469 miles and winds its way through approximately 250 miles of beautiful western North Carolina. This delightful highway allows drivers to leisurely explore the area with a maximum speed limit of 45 mph. Along the journey, you’ll discover an abundance of picturesque overlooks, charming mountain towns, and inviting hiking and biking trails. To help guide your adventure, the parkway is conveniently divided into sections marked by milepost markers that progressively increase as you head south.

The main visitor center, along with the headquarters, can be found in Asheville at milepost 384. It serves as an excellent starting point for travelers to explore and discover the rich natural and cultural history of the region. Additionally, visitors can gather information about the various outdoor activities that are offered along the parkway.
