Women’s Rights National Historical Park

Seneca Falls, a small town in New York, holds the honor of being recognized as the “birthplace of women’s rights.” Back in July 1848, an important event took place in this town: the first-ever women’s rights convention in the United States. This gathering, aptly named the Seneca Falls Convention, aimed to engage in discussions about the state of women’s rights in social, civil, and religious contexts.

The Women’s Rights National Historical Park is situated in Seneca Falls, easily accessible from highway U.S. 20. This park serves as a tribute to the significant event that took place in 1848, while also serving as a reminder that the struggle for women’s rights remains ongoing. It comprises four main properties: the Wesleyan Methodist Church, the Elizabeth Cady Stanton House, M’Clintock House, and Hunt House.
