Frick Collection

The art collection usually housed in a 20th-century mansion is currently undergoing renovations until 2024. However, you can still enjoy a selection of the collection at the temporary location, Frick Madison. This temporary home is situated on Madison Avenue and 75th Street, just five blocks north of the mansion. At Frick Madison, the artworks are displayed in a new way, arranged chronologically and by region. You’ll have the opportunity to admire remarkable paintings and sculptures by renowned artists such as Bellini, Clodion, Gainsborough, Rembrandt, Turner, Vermeer, and Whistler. The renovation of the permanent home for the collection is expected to be finished within two years.

The museum houses an impressive permanent collection that encompasses artworks from the Renaissance to the late 19th century. Renowned artists such as Manet, Vermeer, Rembrandt, Goya, Degas, and Turner are represented in the collection, alongside other masterpieces. Additionally, there are various permanent galleries dedicated to different art forms, and the Portico Gallery exhibits sculpture, ceramics, and decorative arts. What makes the experience even more captivating is the mansion itself, which was formerly owned by the prominent steel tycoon Henry Clay Frick. Situated on Fifth Avenue, right across from Central Park, it offers a remarkable sight to behold.
