One more place to enjoy near Santa Fe in New Mexico
The Santa Fe Botanical Garden is a wonderful place to explore the intricacies of the high desert landscape surrounding the City Different (Santa Fe’s nickname). Spanning approximately 20 acres, this garden offers various attractions for visitors to enjoy. You can admire a diverse collection of fruit trees, discover the beauty of xeric gardens that rely on rainwater, and immerse yourself in the Ojos y Manos: Eyes and Hands ethnobotanical garden, which showcases plants with historical significance to humans. Additionally, the Art Trail takes you on a pleasant journey through annual sculpture exhibitions. To preserve the unique foothills ecosystem of Northern New Mexico, there’s a special 3.25-acre Piñon-Juniper Woodland. Moreover, around 8 acres of the garden are thoughtfully developed with walking paths, providing a delightful experience for nature enthusiasts.
Despite not being the lush landscape that many people anticipate, visitors who have recently been to the garden highly recommend paying it a visit, especially considering its location in the Southwest. Don’t let its relatively small size deceive you, as this garden boasts an impressive array of native plants. To truly appreciate the captivating displays, it is suggested to partake in a docent tour. These tours are not offered on a fixed schedule but are available when staff and volunteers are present. For information regarding tour availability, simply inquire at the visitor center.
