Enjoy it while visiting Santa Fe in New Mexico
Welcome to El Rancho de las Golondrinas, also known as the Ranch of the Swallows! This special place is a living history museum that aims to give you a glimpse into life in the rural area south of Santa Fe during the 18th and 19th centuries. The museum covers a vast 200-acre area and features a collection of buildings that date back to the early 1700s. Additionally, there are reconstructed buildings from different parts of the state.
At El Rancho de las Golondrinas, we take pride in creating an immersive experience for our visitors. Our volunteer docents dress in period clothing, perfectly reflecting the fashion of that time. They skillfully demonstrate the daily activities and customs of the era, transporting you back in time. It’s truly fascinating to see history come alive!
Throughout the year, we host a variety of events to celebrate the rich heritage of the region. In the autumn, we invite you to join us for the Santa Fe Harvest Festival, where you can experience the joy of harvest time with traditional music, food, and cultural activities. If you visit in September, don’t miss the Santa Fe Renaissance Faire, a lively event filled with performances, crafts, and games that capture the spirit of the Renaissance era.
If you’re planning to visit, we highly recommend taking a tour because the guides are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. They will make your experience even more enjoyable by sharing interesting facts and stories. Don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes as there’s quite a bit of walking involved to see all the exhibits.
