Ocean City

Ocean City, situated approximately 65 miles southeast of Philadelphia, is a charming destination with 8 miles of beautiful New Jersey coastline. This delightful city is nestled between the Great Egg Harbor Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, offering visitors staying on the barrier island a wide array of maritime attractions to enjoy. Since its establishment in 1879, Ocean City has been a favorite spot for families in search of pristine beaches. The famous boardwalk, which was first constructed in 1900, has since become an iconic feature of the city. Originally envisioned as a Christian seaside resort by four Methodist ministers, Ocean City still maintains its dry status today, prohibiting the sale of alcohol within its limits due to its religious roots. However, travelers are permitted to bring their own alcoholic beverages.

Ocean City is a popular destination for families during the summer season. The boardwalk is filled with arcades, amusement parks, restaurants, shops, and other enjoyable activities. If you’re looking for adult entertainment, you can head to Atlantic City, which is located just north of Ocean City. It’s known for its casinos and bars. Whether you’re planning a day trip or a longer stay at one of Ocean City’s hotels or vacation rentals, you’ll always find something to keep you occupied in this coastal city. It’s important to note that some of the area’s attractions close down when the weather gets cooler, but there are still a few stores, restaurants, and attractions that remain open year-round.
