Trip ideas while visiting Salem in Massachusetts
In Salem, there’s a famous statue known as the Statue of Elizabeth Montgomery. It can be found in Lappin Park at the end of Essex Street Pedestrian Mall. This bronze statue is six feet tall and portrays Samantha Stephens, the character played by Montgomery in the 1960s sitcom called “Bewitched.” The statue shows Samantha sitting sidesaddle on a broom beside a crescent moon. Back in 1970, several episodes of the beloved show were filmed in Salem, and the city takes great pride in this fact. Adjacent to the statue, you’ll notice a small plaque with a heartfelt message that says, “Samantha left us all Bewitched, with her golden hair, twinkling eyes, and a nose that neatly twitched; she was clever, charming, and enchanting.”
If you’re a fan of the TV show “Bewitched,” then this statue in Salem is a must-see for you. Recent travelers who have visited the statue agree that it’s a great spot to take some memorable photos. However, if you’re not a die-hard fan, it may not be worth going out of your way just to see the statue. The good news is that access to the statue is free, and it’s available to visit anytime, day or night. So, if you happen to be in Salem and want to capture a bit of “Bewitched” magic, make sure to check out this statue.
