Trip ideas while visiting Honolulu - Oahu in Hawaii

‘Iolani Palace

In 1882, a beautiful 10-room house was finished. This house is not just any ordinary house - it is a museum and a National Historic Landmark. It holds a lot of history about the time when King Kalakaua and his sister, Queen Lili’uokalani, ruled Hawaii as the last monarchs. It’s interesting to note that this house is the only official royal residence in the United States. Inside, you can find luxurious and extravagant things such as a magnificent wooden staircase made from Hawaiian koa wood, stunning portraits of Hawaiian kings and queens, majestic thrones, and beautiful decorative items from different parts of the world.

When visiting this attraction, many travelers have found it to be a wonderful opportunity to experience Hawaii’s rich culture. However, there are some important rules to keep in mind during your tour. Firstly, children under the age of 5 must be secured in a child carrier or make use of the strollers provided by the palace. Additionally, it is mandatory to wear cloth booties in order to protect the floors of the palace.
