Bishop Museum

If you’re interested in Hawaiian history and culture, a visit to the Bishop Museum is a must. Established in 1889 as a tribute to Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the wife of museum founder Charles Reed Bishop and the last descendant of the Kamehameha royal family, this museum is an incredible repository of over 25 million artifacts related to Hawaii and the Pacific region. At the museum, you’ll find fascinating exhibits such as the three-story Hawaiian Hall, where you can explore Hawaiian gods, significant events in Hawaiian history, and more. Additionally, there’s a planetarium that offers an immersive experience called “Wayfinders.” This full-dome projection program transports viewers onto the Hokule’a, a voyaging canoe, as it embarks on its journey from Tahiti to Hawaii using traditional Polynesian navigation techniques.
