In northeastern Hawai’i, you’ll find ‘Akaka Falls State Park in Hilo. Exploring this park is quite easy as it involves a short and low-intensity hike of just 0.4 miles. The highlight of the park is undoubtedly the breathtaking waterfalls. First, you’ll come across Kahuna Falls, followed by the magnificent ‘Akaka Falls, which gives the park its name.
The ‘Akaka Falls’ loop trail is a short and easy walk that even beginners can enjoy. It’s less than half a mile long and has a flat, paved surface, although there are some stairs to climb. Despite its simplicity, hikers find it worthwhile, given the small amount of time and money required. If you prefer not to explore the area independently, many Hawaii tours include a visit to ‘Akaka Falls’ as part of their itinerary.
