This preserve is a paradise for nature enthusiasts. Situated approximately 30 miles northeast of Naples and around 47 miles south of Fort Myers, it spans 11,000 acres of marshland. Here, you can encounter remarkable features such as 600-year-old trees, otters, alligators, and a stunning array of endangered birds. To explore the sanctuary, there’s a convenient boardwalk that allows for a self-guided tour, giving you a glimpse into Florida’s unspoiled past. Along the boardwalk, you’ll find knowledgeable naturalists who are ready to answer any questions you may have. According to recent visitors, it typically takes about three hours to leisurely stroll along the sanctuary’s nearly 3-mile path.

The sanctuary welcomes visitors every day from 7 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., unless the weather is unfavorable. To enter, adults are charged a fee of $14, and children aged 6 to 18 can get in for just $4. Please note that only bottled water is permitted on the boardwalk, as no other food or beverages are allowed. If you plan on having a picnic, there is a designated area near the parking lots. However, it’s important to remember that there are no restroom facilities along the boardwalk.
