Destin Fishing

Destin is known as the “World’s Luckiest Fishing Village” for a reason. It offers a wide range of fishing opportunities, making it a paradise for anglers. Whether you prefer jetties, beaches, piers, or the Destin Bridge, there are plenty of spots to cast your line. The local fishermen have had success catching various types of fish such as pompano, channel bass, bluefish, king mackerel, and flounder. If you’re passionate about fishing, make sure to visit in October for the Destin Fishing Rodeo, where participants compete for the biggest catch of the day.

If you’re new to fishing and would like some guidance from experienced locals, consider booking one of the top fishing charters available in the city. On the other hand, if you prefer savoring the delicious seafood that Destin has to offer, don’t miss out on the annual Destin Seafood Festival, also held in October. And here’s a great option: if you catch your own fish but lack kitchen facilities, many local restaurants are happy to cook your cleaned fish just the way you like it and serve it with your favorite sides. For a list of participating restaurants, be sure to check with the visitors bureau.

Welcome to Okaloosa Island Pier! We’re open every day from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. during mid-November through mid-March, and in the summer, we stay open 24 hours a day. Our angling rates are affordable: $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $5 for kids aged 6 to 12. If you have children under 6 years old, they can fish for free! Don’t worry if you don’t have fishing gear—we offer rod and reel rentals right here. If you just want to watch the action, there’s a small fee of $2 for observers. No permit is required if you’re fishing from our pier with a saltwater fishing license or if you’re on a for-hire vessel (like a guide, charter, or party boat) that has a valid charter boat license or charter captain license. For more details about fishing permits, you can visit the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
