World War II Memorial

Dedicated in 2004, the World War II Memorial pays tribute to the 16 million brave American military personnel who served during this significant event in history. It serves as a solemn reminder of the thousands of individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. The memorial features a circular arrangement of 56 columns, each representing a U.S. state or territory from that era. Overlooking the Rainbow Pool, the memorial takes on a magical appearance at night when illuminated by lights. Additionally, it includes a wall adorned with over 4,000 gold stars, symbolizing the staggering loss of one hundred American lives for each star during the conflict.
