Situated in the northeastern part of Washington, D.C., you’ll find the United States National Arboretum. This wonderful place offers visitors a chance to explore stunning outdoor areas. While the arboretum is home to various beautiful plants like dogwoods, azaleas, and magnolias, it’s not just the flora that draws people here. The National Capitol Columns and the bonsai collection are the main highlights that attract most travelers.
The National Capitol Columns have a rich history. Constructed in 1828, these columns once adorned the Capitol building until 1958. In the 1980s, they were relocated to the arboretum. Today, these magnificent columns serve as a perfect backdrop for memorable photos or a pleasant picnic spot.
As for the bonsai trees, they have their own special place in the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum within the arboretum. This museum proudly displays an astonishing collection of 300 miniature trees. The staff members regularly rotate these miniature wonders among the museum’s three pavilions and special exhibits gallery, ensuring there’s always something new and captivating to see.
