A place like no other near Sequoia National Park in California
Hiking to the top of the granite dome offers an awe-inspiring panorama of the Great Western Divide and the western region of Sequoia National Park. The ascent can be challenging due to the 350-plus steps and higher altitude. However, those who make the effort affirm that the stunning vistas from the summit make it all worthwhile. It’s important to exercise caution during the hike by using handrails and ensuring children are supervised, as there are steep edges. Remember to stay hydrated by bringing water and take breaks whenever necessary.
The accessibility of Moro Rock varies depending on the season. During the summer, visitors can easily reach the summit by climbing the steps or taking a free shuttle from the Giant Forest Museum to the Moro Rock parking lot. However, if the parking lot is closed, they will need to walk approximately 2 miles from the nearest parking area. In winter, when there is snow or bad weather, Moro Rock is closed for safety reasons as the stairs become slippery.
