When to Visit

Santa Cruz offers various seasons throughout the year, each with its own unique charm. For a more relaxed experience with fewer crowds, it’s best to visit between September and November. During these months, the summer tourists have typically gone home, allowing for a bit more space on the beaches, walking paths, and other attractions.

As we approach December, January, and February, temperatures may slightly decrease, but they are still quite pleasant. These months are particularly special as they provide a warm haven for the monarch butterflies that overwinter at Natural Bridges State Beach.

When April and May roll around, temperatures begin to rise, and Santa Cruz comes alive with exciting events. This lively atmosphere reaches its peak during June, July, and August. Whether you’re seeking outdoor festivals, beach activities, or simply enjoying the vibrant energy of the city, this is the time when Santa Cruz truly shines.
