Presidio Tunnel Tops

Presidio Tunnel Tops, located within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, is a recently established national park space that restores the connection between the city and the bay. Spanning 14 acres, this park was designed by James Corner Field Operations, the same team responsible for New York City’s popular High Line park. It stretches over the newly constructed Presidio Parkway, which used to be known as Doyle Drive and created a divide between the historic Main Post and the waterfront. With its interconnected pathways, scenic bluff landscapes, and observation points, the park has become a beloved gathering spot for both residents and tourists.

The Golden Gate Meadow is a favorite destination for families seeking outdoor fun. It’s one of the park’s expansive areas where you can enjoy picnics, fly kites, and engage in various activities. Adjacent to the meadow are beautiful gardens and accessible cliff walks that offer stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the bay, and the Marin Headlands. Additionally, there’s a fantastic 2-acre play area called the Outpost. This unique space is adorned with impressive play structures made from fallen tree trunks, boulders, and other nature-inspired elements. Children can delight in swinging, crawling, and climbing to their heart’s content.
