Monterey

The Monterey Peninsula in California has a unique charm that sets it apart from other areas. It’s a place where time seems to move slower, the architecture is unassuming (except for the lavish homes in Pebble Beach), and the lifestyle beautifully combines the relaxed vibe of Southern California with the sophistication of Northern California. When it comes to attracting visitors, the town of Monterey on the northern side of the peninsula takes the spotlight, while the southern area entices the affluent and easygoing crowd to Carmel-by-the-Sea. The high prices of real estate play a role in preserving the intimate community atmosphere and contribute to the breathtaking coastline of Monterey.

Monterey is a perfect place to visit whether you’re on a road trip or planning a romantic weekend getaway. It offers beautiful golf courses that are renowned worldwide. You can also enjoy whale watching all year round and take part in fantastic California tours. Moreover, Monterey has an abundance of natural wonders, luxurious resorts, and delightful seafood restaurants. With all these attractions, it could be the ideal destination for your next vacation.

When to Visit

Monterey is a fantastic place to visit, and the best time to go is between April and May. During spring, you’ll enjoy pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds. Plus, there are some amazing food festivals like Pebble Beach Food & Wine and the Artichoke Festival in Castroville where you can indulge in delicious eats. If you prefer warmer weather, summer is the most popular time to visit, but remember that Monterey can still be a bit chilly due to the ocean breeze. So, bring a sweater regardless of the season. Fall is also a great time to visit, although there’s a higher chance of rain starting in October. In winter, despite being located in central California, Monterey experiences mild temperatures with an average low of 48 degrees. It’s a good time to find lower hotel prices and catch the star-studded AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am event held in February. Overall, Monterey is a wonderful destination all year round!
