La Brea Tar Pits

If your kids are crazy about dinosaurs (and let’s face it, most kids are), then they’ll absolutely love a trip to the La Brea Tar Pits. This unique place, located in the Miracle Mile area along Museum Row, has been bubbling with hot tar for about 50,000 years. It may look like something out of a cheesy PG movie, but don’t be fooled! Over 3.5 million fossils have been discovered here, making it one of the largest collections of Ice Age artifacts in the world. The museum next to the tar pits displays many of these incredible fossils. Recent visitors were amazed by the educational experience and the sheer number of fossils on display.

Visiting the tar pits is absolutely free, but if you want to explore the museum, ticket prices start at $15 for adults and $7 for children aged 3 to 12. Students and seniors can enjoy reduced entry fees. LA County residents have the advantage of entering for free from Monday to Friday between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Included in the ticket are tours of various areas such as the fossil lab, lake pit, and observation pit. However, some special exhibits may require an additional fee. To save time waiting in line, it’s advisable to purchase your ticket online before your visit. Many visitors find the exhibits extremely interesting, making the admission fee worthwhile.
