Lake Catherine State Park

Lake Catherine State Park is a charming destination that covers approximately 3 1/2-square-miles of the Ouachita Mountain’s forest and coastal areas. It offers a wide range of beautiful trails that attract many visitors. One of the most popular trails is the Falls Branch Trail, which spans 2 miles and leads to a picturesque waterfall. Hikers particularly enjoy this trail.

Apart from hiking trails, the park is also known for its excellent fishing opportunities. Anglers can make use of the fishing pier or rent boats from the on-site marina. The park’s serene surroundings make it an ideal spot for fishing enthusiasts.

Moreover, history buffs will find delight in the park’s historic stone and wood buildings. These structures were built during the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, adding a touch of American history to the park’s allure.

According to previous visitors, they had a great time exploring the various hiking trails in the park. Additionally, they appreciated the swimming beach as a refreshing spot to relax after a tiring day of walking or boating. However, some people were disappointed by the presence of a power plant on the other side of the lake, which detracted from the park’s otherwise beautiful scenery. Particularly at night, when its lights clashed with the natural beauty of the moon and stars, it was a source of annoyance for overnight campers.
