A place like no other near Sedona in Arizona
When it comes to cultural sites, there’s one that stands out above the rest: the Chapel of the Holy Cross. This remarkable church was designed by Marguerite Brunswig Staude, a student of renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, in the 1950s. Situated just under 4 miles south of Sedona’s “Y” intersection, it juts out from the striking red cliffs. The centerpiece of the chapel is a magnificent stained-glass window supported by a massive cross, offering breathtaking views of the Verde Valley.
Are you interested in more than just the chapel itself? Well, you’re in luck! You can enjoy a pleasant hike while visiting the chapel. The Chapel Trail is a great option, spanning 1.3 miles round trip. It begins at the chapel’s parking lot and treats you to picturesque vistas of the beautiful red buttes that surround the area. Keep in mind, some previous hikers have mentioned that the trail can be quite rocky. But don’t worry, if you prefer an easier route, there’s a shorter path of only 0.1 mile that leads to the observation area at the chapel.
