One more place to enjoy near Flagstaff in Arizona
In 1904, the Riordan brothers, Michael and Timothy, who were part of a well-known Arizona family, decided to build two mansions on Kinlichi Knoll in Flagstaff. These mansions were almost identical and were designed by architect Charles Frederick Whittlesey, who also created the famous El Tovar Hotel at the Grand Canyon. Interestingly, these two houses are connected by a rendezvous room. Nowadays, visitors have the opportunity to join guided tours of the 13,000-square-foot area to discover more about the Riordan family and the background of the property.
Visitors who have been here before didn’t consider it a must-see attraction, but they did find it to be a fantastic activity for a rainy day. People who have visited recently had a great time exploring the architecture of the historic mansions, which are over 100 years old, and learning about the fascinating history of the Riordan family. The Riordans played a significant role in the development of Flagstaff during the early 1900s. In addition to the guided tour of the mansions, it’s also highly recommended to take a self-guided tour of the surrounding grounds.
