A place like no other near Juneau in Alaska
In Nordic terminology, a “fjord” refers to a narrow water passage enclosed by steep cliffs. Although Juneau’s Mendenhall Glacier attracts a majority of tourists, the magnificent Tracy Arm Fjord, stretching 27 miles in length, surpasses it in size, grandeur, and drama. This inlet is remarkably slender, sometimes measuring only half a mile wide. Towering cliffs, reaching heights exceeding 3,000 feet, flank its sides, adorned with cascading waterfalls that descend down the sheer rock surfaces. Throughout the summer season, it is common to observe eagles, seals, bears, and whales in this area.
