A place like no other near Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming
The Norris Geyser Basin, located in Yellowstone National Park, is home to some remarkable thermal features. It holds the distinction of being the oldest geyser basin in the park, with thermal activity dating back over 115,000 years. The basin is also known for its intense heat, with temperatures reaching a scorching 459 degrees Fahrenheit just 1,087 feet below the surface.
When visitors arrive at the North Geyer Basin Museum, they are treated to their first glimpse of this geothermal wonder. Exploring the boardwalks in the area, they have the opportunity to witness unique acid geysers like Echinus Geyser. Additionally, they can marvel at Steamboat Geyser, which holds the title of the tallest active geyser in the basin. This impressive geyser shoots water 300 to 400 feet high into the air.
