Mammoth Hot Springs

Mammoth Hot Springs, located just south of the park’s north entrance in Gardiner, Montana, is a fascinating attraction in the park. It boasts unique limestone terraces that have been formed over many years. These terraces are created by hot water rich in minerals, which rises from the ground, cools down, and deposits calcium carbonate. People have compared these travertine formations to frozen waterfalls or caves turned inside out. Visitors can explore the terraces by walking along the maze-like platforms at Mammoth Hot Springs. However, it’s important to note that the wooden boardwalks have stairs, so this route isn’t accessible for wheelchairs, except for the top of Canary Springs and Palette Springs.
