Trapp Family Lodge

The von Trapp family, known to dedicated fans of “The Sound of Music,” had a remarkable journey. They fled from Salzburg, Austria in 1938 and embarked on a musical tour around the world. Eventually, their musical endeavors proved successful, allowing them to buy a cozy farmhouse in Stowe. They decided to make this beautiful mountainous area their home once again. As years went by, the farmhouse expanded into a magnificent resort offering various recreational activities such as cross-country skiing, mountain biking, and tennis.

The lodge has grown significantly and now offers various activities for visitors. While skiing remains a favorite pastime, guests also enjoy exploring the lodge’s hiking trails and taking relaxing horse-drawn carriage rides. For fans of “The Sound of Music” and those interested in the von Trapp family, a history tour of the lodge is highly recommended as it provides a comprehensive overview of their fascinating story.
