A place like no other near Austin in Texas
On the former property of Charles Umlauf, a beloved art professor at the University of Texas for four decades, you’ll find a beautiful fusion of his works with the natural landscape of native Texas. Umlauf and his wife, Angeline, generously donated their property, house, and Charles’ studio, along with a staggering collection of 168 sculptures, to the City of Austin back in 1985. The garden showcases 59 of Umlauf’s sculptures, primarily crafted from bronze using the lost wax technique. In addition to the remarkable sculptures, the collection also encompasses thousands of his exquisite drawings.
The garden has been described by recent guests as “peaceful.” They particularly enjoyed the calming sounds of water while walking around. The general consensus is that it would take approximately an hour to fully explore and appreciate the sculptures in the garden.
