Whitewater Center

Located approximately 15 miles west of Uptown Charlotte along the Catawba River, the Whitewater Center offers a wide range of over 30 land and water activities for you to choose from. This expansive 1,300-acre facility boasts the world’s largest man-made whitewater river, providing various options such as flatwater and whitewater kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and thrilling whitewater rafting tours that are considered among the best in North Carolina. If you prefer staying dry, don’t worry! The center caters to your preferences as well, offering exciting land activities like mountain biking, rock climbing, zip lining, and even competitive running trails and obstacle courses. While most activities require a pass, it’s worth noting that access to the center’s more than 50 miles of trails is completely free of charge.

The center is highly recommended by past travelers as a fantastic destination for a fun-filled day with your family. It offers exciting adventures and activities that will keep everyone entertained. However, it’s worth noting that some visitors found the cost of activity passes to be a bit high, which was a disappointment for them.
