Trip ideas while visiting Charlotte in North Carolina

NASCAR Hall of Fame

Don’t underestimate the NASCAR Hall of Fame; it’s more than just a museum with plaques honoring past drivers. Spread across 150,000 square feet, this place offers exciting experiences with its advanced displays, racing simulators, and a theater that can seat 278 people. If you’re new to the thrilling world of NASCAR, be sure to check out the “Heritage Speedway” exhibit. It showcases authentic artifacts and educational films, giving you a comprehensive understanding of NASCAR’s history spanning seven decades. For a closer and interactive look into the preparations for race day, head to the “Inside NASCAR” exhibit. Here, you can virtually disassemble a car to see how all the parts work, experience being a NASCAR reporter calling a race, and even hop behind the wheel of one of their eight racing simulators.

Even if you’re not a car enthusiast, don’t worry! Visitors who didn’t have much interest in cars before still enjoyed their time here. They particularly liked the interactive displays and exhibits. One exciting activity is the “Pit Crew Challenge.” It lets you test your skills by jacking up a car, changing a tire with a real airgun, and filling up the fuel tank like a professional pit crew. Another highlight is the simulator, which some visitors think is worth paying a little extra for.
