Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge

The stunning Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge covers over 7,600 acres of preserved dunes, salt and freshwater marshes, and even an old lighthouse. Exploring this refuge will make you feel like an adventurous explorer. However, it’s not just about the beautiful landscapes. The surrounding islands of Morris, Minimoy, and North and South Monomoy serve as a nesting sanctuary for numerous migratory seabird species. Just off the coast of South Monomoy, you’ll find a sizable population of harbor grey seals who gather to mate, frolic, and bask in the sun along the shoreline.

During the summer season, there are two options available for exploring the area: joining a guided tour or taking a leisurely stroll along the beach using self-guided maps. Many people who have visited recently have spoken highly of the welcoming staff at the information center and have described the surroundings as a stunning location for a walk.
