The Field Museum

Occupying a spacious half-acre area in Grant Park’s Museum Campus, this natural history museum is a fascinating destination for both children and fans of adventure movies like “Indiana Jones.” It showcases a wide range of artifacts from various eras and locations. Among its popular exhibits is “Inside Ancient Egypt,” where visitors can explore a reconstructed three-story Egyptian tomb, view one of the largest collections of mummies in the country, and engage in interactive displays depicting life along the Nile. Another noteworthy section is the Restoring Earth area found in Abbott Hall of Conservation. Here, visitors can participate in hands-on activities to learn about sustainability. Of course, no trip to The Field Museum would be complete without encountering SUE, their iconic T. rex. SUE holds the distinction of being the largest and most complete T. rex ever unearthed. Measuring 40 feet in length, SUE possesses an impressive set of 55 fearsome teeth.
