Snorkel at Tunnels Beach

Tunnels Beach, also known as Makua Beach, is a fantastic snorkeling spot in Kaua’i. Situated on Ha’ena Point along the North Shore of Kaua’i, near Wainiha, it is approximately 2 miles east of the Kalalau Trail and 9 miles west of Princeville.

The beach has a large reef that is great for both beginners and experienced snorkelers. It got its name from the tunnels or lava tubes that go through the reef. When you visit, you can see groups of coral, small caves and tunnels underwater, and various marine creatures like turtles, tropical fish, eels, crabs, and more. Even if you don’t want to snorkel, people say it’s still worth a visit because of its amazing location. The water is clear, there are plenty of palm trees, and if you look west, you can enjoy the beautiful cluster of lush, rugged peaks that surround the beach.
